Welcome to Diyarbakır in Eastern Türkiye! 🇹🇷 Just around the corner from the famous Dört Ayaklı Minare and Şeyh Mutahhar Mosque, I discovered the beautiful Mar Petyun Chaldean Catholic Church. Yes, there are still Christian communities in this predominantly Muslim region of Türkiye! ❤️ And this visit was extra special for me. I was brought up Catholic, and the moment I stepped inside, that familiar church smell brought back memories of my childhood and going to church with my grand parents. The beautiful altar, religious artifacts and peaceful atmosphere made me feel like stepping back in time. But what fascinated me most was hearing the Islamic call to prayer outside while standing inside a Catholic church! 🙏 Two religions, two places of worship, just steps away from each other. This is another side of Türkiye I absolutely love discovering! 🫶🏼🙌🏽 ❤️🇹🇷
