Between 26 to 29 Oct 2026, ICA detected 50 cases of travellers found in possession of vaporisers. More than 5476 vaporisers and related components were seized. About 68% of the cases involved short-term visitors and 32% were Singapore residents (Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents and Long-Term Pass holders). On 26 October 2026, ICA officers at Changi Airport Terminal 4 profiled four arriving foreigners for further checks, and found a total of 5,272 vaporisers and related components in their luggage. All four were referred to the Health Sciences Authority and will be facing higher penalties under Tobacco and Vaporisers Control Act (TVCA). ICA continues to support the Whole-of-Government efforts against vaporisers through stepped-up checks at Singapore’s air, land and sea checkpoints. These checks aim to detect and deter attempts to smuggle vaporisers into Singapore. Vaping is illegal in Singapore. Foreigners who visit or reside in Singapore must abide by our laws. Individuals caught possessing, using or purchasing vaporisers will face higher penalties under the TVCA. Short-term visitors who re-offend will be banned from re-entering Singapore. Long-term pass holders who re-offend may have their passes revoked on a third offence and be deported and banned from re-entering Singapore. ICA remains committed to securing Singapore's borders against all forms of smuggling, including attempts to smuggle vaporisers.
